savory herbal tea
When you’re sick and feeling yucky, it’s super important to keep drinking liquids. Especially warm herbal teas and broths.
This simple savory herbal tea recipe is the perfect middle ground of tea and broth, for when tea just isn’t sounding good, and broth seems a little too heavy.
Those sick days when you just can’t bring yourself to do basically anything, and you’re nervous if whatever you eat is going to make your belly be like “OH HELL NO” This is my go to.
Great for upset tummy, sore throat, & cough.
Ingredients
Garlic skins
Fresh thyme
Hot water
Am I the only one that saves my garlic skins? Well, you should start! From homemade broths to this savory herbal tea, it’s great to have in your cupboard when you’re feeling under the weather. Trust me, you’ll thank me one day. :)
Garlic skins contain antibacterial, antiviral, anti fungal & antiseptic properties. They also help to reduce swelling and inflammation.
Thyme also contains antibacterial & antiseptic properties, supports the respiratory system, helps with sore throat, cough and viral infections. Thyme helps to reduce blood pressure and alleviates muscle pain.
Add the skins from 1-3 garlic buds depending on size, and one sprig of fresh thyme. No need for precise measurements here. Embrace your inner Kitchen Witch and use your best judgement. You got this. :)
Add hot water and let steep for 2-3 minutes before sipping. No need to remove skins or thyme before sipping, but if you’re not into them, feel free to pull them out of your cup with a spoon.
